Day 3     Story of Hanoi Full Day Private Tour

Begin your Story of Hanoi with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Here, you will hear about the man who led Vietnam’s campaign for independence from French colonial rule. Next, visit the imperial citadel, the apex of regional political power for more than a millennium where research and excavation is still underway. After a Vietnamese lunch, head to another 11th century relic, the Temple of Literature, which was built as an homage to the Chinese scholar Confucius. You will then see the iconic Long Bien Bridge. Constructed across Red River between 1899 and 1902, when Vietnam was still ruled by the French, it is now jammed with whizzing motorbikes and an occasional passenger train chugging into nearby Long Bien Station. The tour continues with a 30-minute cyclo tour through Hanoi’s bustling Old Quarter, a place where Hanoians buy everything from noodles to light fixtures to Buddha statues. The quarter’s 36 streets were named for the products that were sold from their shops. Today, vendors on Tin and Bamboo Streets still sell the same wares. After exploring the old quarter’s shady alleyways, sip a strong Vietnamese coffee in a café overlooking Hoan Kiem Lake - an important symbol in Vietnamese folklore. Sn

Day 6     Hoi An, Vietnam

Begin your story of Hoi An, a former port that welcomed Chinese, Dutch, French, Japanese, Portuguese and Arab merchants between the 16th to 18th centuries. Today it is renowned for its old quarter lined with two-storey Chinese shops, with elaborate carved wooden facades and terracotta tile roofs. And not forgetting expert tailor shops and delicious food! The tour includes stops at several famous landmarks. The first is Chua Ong Pagoda, dating back to 1653 and built in honor of the Chinese general Quan Cong, who is worshipped by many as a symbol of loyalty and justice. Next, pop into Phuc Kien Assembly Hall, to see the Jinshang Temple which is dedicated to the goddess of the sea and the protector of sailors. From there it’s a short walk to Tam Ky House, a 200 year old ancestral house and finally, stroll across the often photographed 17th century covered bridge built by Japanese craftsmen. The beautifully built bridge doubles as a temple and is a major landmark of Hoi An. After a Vietnamese lunch, take a short boat trip down the river and visit a craft village where local artisans make ceramics. End your afternoon with a visit to the docks and see traditional fishing boats and the unusual round basket boats that ply the water.

Day 7     Hoi An, Vietnam

Explore the hidden beauty of Vietnam in this day-long tour of the majestic Ba Na Hills. Begin today with an exciting cable car ride to the top of the mist-covered summit. Take in the magnificent Linh Ung Pagoda and the Giant Buddha statue before heading to the elegant and colourful flower garden at the Le Jardin D'Amour. Here, take time to absorb the vibrant wildlife on display and take colourful pictures to impress friends back home. Next, take to the stunning, 150-metre long Golden Bridge, held up by giant moss-covered hands and marvel at the breath-taking views provided by the hills. Once colonised by the French, the area boasts an intriguing mixture of European and Vietnamese heritage. Visit an old French village and marvel at the juxtaposition of ancient French life in the middle of the distinctively Vietnamese mountains. Enjoy a traditional Vietnamese lunch before spending the afternoon at leisure. Choose to explore the fantasy park with over 100 games for children and adults alike or to simply wander amongst the stunning surroundings. After a day of adventure and sightseeing, head back to the hotel for some well-deserved rest and relaxation.
